Knoxville is a thriving city in East Tennessee with too many features to list. The city houses the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, a much-loved state university with an exceptional academic program and just-as-good athletic program. The city also enjoys a robust night life, Market Square, the Bijou Theater, and a beautiful Main Street (Gay St.). First settled in 1786, Knoxville was the first capital in the state of Tennessee. It is now the 3rd largest city in the state and has a rich history including a prominent position in the Civil War.
