Karns is one of the few communities left in the West Knoxville area that could be considered rural. Though Karns has seen an uptick in new housing over the past 8-10 years, there is still an abundance of farmland and greenspace. Karns enjoys a thriving small-town community, with 2 community centers, a fantastic Little League program, and a number of shops and restaurants that have been around for years. Karns is still a fairly short drive to adjoining communities, but feels a bit tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of West Knoxville and the rest of the Metropolitan Knoxville area in general. Karns has a yearly Community Fair and Independence Day parade, among other community centered activities. Karns is additionally home to Beaver Creek, a protected creek for which many of the town’s roads, shops, and even the school’s mascot are named.
